Third Queens International Poetry Festival

The Third Queens International Poetry Festival, organized by New York-based arts non-profit Movement One: Creative Coalition, will feature three Latino poets: Dr. Myrna Nieves, a Professor at Boricua College and Curator of the College's acclaimed Winter Reading Series, Ricardo Leon Pena-Villa, one of Colombia's most accomplished poets and editor of Casa Tomada Magazine, and Nicole Cecilia Delgado, a teacher at Boricua College and a highly-respected literary editor.

The festival, which will take place this year on Saturday, December 10, beginning at 7pm in LaGuardia Community College's Little Theatre, will also feature live music from Afro-Cuban Bata drummers David Gomez and Friends.

The program, funded in part by grants from The New York State Council on The Arts and Poets and Writer, will also include readings from poets such as American Book Award Winner Daniela Gioseffi, and Mario Susko, the Croatian-American author of 23 books, who was a witness and survivor of the Bosnian War. There will also be a musical performance by Papa Susso, an African griot and kora player.

LaGuardia Community College's Little Theatre is on Van Dam Street betwenn 47th Avenue and Queens Blvd. By public transportation, take the 7 train to 33 Street Rawson and walk two blocks to Van Dam. Buses: Q60, Q32, Q39.
